Writing this for a personal sense of closure. I had an allergic reaction to medication in a hospital which caused a seizure that closed my windpipe. This happened late at night in a rural hospital and some protocols were not followed. So it took the nursing staff a few minutes to respond to what was happening. Luckily I survived and left this experience with a much different perspective on life. Here is an account of my experience....

Someone in the House Aug 30, 2019

I was awake. I don’t remember falling asleep and I’m not really sure how I got into bed. But I was awake now. There was a very distant ringing in my ears. Sort of like the aftermath of a concussive blast that makes you deaf. Only this ringing seemed far off inside my head. Must have had a rough night, I suppose. But honestly, I really couldn’t remember what happened last night. Or any night for that matter.

John had the perfect life. He had great friends and everyone liked him. The teachers liked him. The coaches liked him. John was as happy as can be that day, just like every other day. Nothing could shake him from this mindset. Nothing. He was sitting in class, focusing completely on doing the work his teacher had given him. Then the classroom door opened.
