Jerry Seinfeld called in and delivered a sharper Porsche Mission S concept breakdown than most automotive journalists will write all week. Porsche unveiled the 550 Spyder in that same spot in 1953. The Mission S, reportedly born from a pencil sketch just eight months ago, carries fender lines Jerry describes as "a Jaguar through a German lens" and is shaping up to be a dedicated halo car positioned above the 911, something Porsche hasn't attempted since the 928 GTS was put to rest in 1995. From there, Spike, Jonny Lieberman, and Paul Zuckerman dig into the Porsche supercar above 911 question seriously: flat-eight hybrid? Front-wheel electric drive motors? A 917-style fan shroud on top?

Then the tone shifts when Tesla's long-delayed Roadster comes back into the news, complete with cold-gas nitrogen thrusters, sub-one-second zero-to-60 claims, and a reservation contract that literally states they do not guarantee the car will ever be delivered or built. They also get a look at the Alef Aeronautics flying car demo video and react accordingly.

Two car reviews anchor the second half. First: the Landrovers Pantera Breeze, a bespoke electric Land Rover Defender restomod out of Amsterdam, 600 horsepower across four in-wheel motors, teak and leather inside, Marine Blue outside, and a $680,000 price tag that Spike says is almost justified given how rattle-free the ride is. Almost.

Then Jonny runs through the Genesis G90 review: 409 horsepower, an electric supercharger on a twin-turbo V6, and a Chauffeur Mode that uses forward cameras to pre-soften suspension hits before passengers feel them. Genesis G90 chauffeur mode is the real story here and it's genuinely impressive tech for the price against an S-Class or 7 Series.

Spike and Paul also recount a weekend at Willow Springs with the Duke of Richmond, judging historic IROC Porsche 911 replicas from a helicopter. The winner had the worst lap time and one eye, lost in a musical theater sword fight. No notes.

Matt Farah joins Spike to break down Porsche's new business strategy under CEO Michael Leiters. The short version: everybody wants to be Porsche, and Porsche wants to be Ferrari. They dig into what that means for buyers who don't want a world split between hypercars and sh**boxes.

Matt also shares the full spec sheet on his Porsche 911 giveaway: a 992.2 Carrera T in Slate Gray Neo, six-speed manual, burl wood shift knob, 600hp Flat 6 Motorsports kit, BBI suspension, M Engineering tune, custom wheels, and a Porsche 917 psychedelic livery by 405 Motoring. Tickets go live December 11.

From there, Spike and Matt run through Road and Track's best sports cars under 50k for 2026, covering the Mazda MX-5 Miata, Toyota GR86, Subaru BRZ, BMW 230i, Honda Prelude, Nissan Z, and Volkswagen Golf R. Then it's on to best beginner track cars. Viral clip reactions include a Stockton roundabout that accidentally became a drift course and a 67-year-old doing courthouse lawn donuts in a Chevy Impala.

To close, Paul Boutros of Phillips Watches unveils the auction centerpiece for the Phillips Watches auction in New York: Vic Elford's Rolex Daytona, awarded to him for winning the 1968 24 Hours of Daytona in a Porsche 907. It is the first documented Daytona ever given to a motorsport champion, previously owned by Jerry Seinfeld.

Spike, Zuckerman, and Jonny open the show breaking down teaser footage of Porsche's rumored new hypercar, the Mission S. An 8,000-RPM tachometer on screen has everyone speculating: flat-eight hybrid? 959 styling cues? Nobody knows for sure, but the speculation is half the fun.

From there, the panel digs into Porsche's corporate posture shift. Porsche's time as the "poor man's Ferrari" is officially over, and rather than letting things cool off, Porsche plans to raise prices further, with top-end specs already creeping toward $400,000. The hosts debate what that means for buyers, resale values, and whether GT division chief Andreas Preuninger is already packing for Montana.

Spike reads an official statement from Marshall Goldman co-owner clarifying the Bring a Trailer shill bidding situation. The statement identifies a former independent contractor's personal account as responsible for the improper bids, and acknowledges Marshall Goldman's failure to revoke account credentials in time.

Spike delivers his driving impressions of the 992.2 Porsche 911 Turbo S Cabriolet in Gentian Blue. Launch control, twin e-turbos, titanium exhaust, and 0-60 times matching a Tesla Model S Plaid. Jonny counters with a measured review of the Mazda MX-5 Miata on Angeles Crest, appreciating the chassis but calling out its 181-hp engine as genuinely slow compared to a used Boxster or GR Corolla.

Kai Lermen, formerly of The Quail, joins the garage to walk through the Willow Springs Reimagined event: Petersen Time Attack, vintage motos, Jenson Button, Patrick Long, and a revamped diner. He also teases multi-phase track renovations coming after the show.

Zack Klapman joins Spike and Jonny for what might genuinely be the most automotive episode in nine years of this show. They open with McLaren. The brand has officially confirmed an SUV is coming before 2030, and the crew debates whether it saves them or just dilutes the brand further. They also torch McLaren's newly redesigned wordmark logo.

Bentley's Torcal EV announcement gets the full breakdown: 810 hp, 0-60 in 3.4 seconds, 375 miles of range, 16-minute fast charge from 10 to 80 percent, and a $270,000 price tag.

Spike reviews the Mercedes-AMG SL 63 S E Performance, a plug-in hybrid V8 roadster putting out over 800 hp and nearly 1,000 lb-ft of torque. He also shares first impressions of the Ducati Streetfighter V4, a naked superbike with 208 hp, integrated aerodynamic winglets, and a $25,000 price tag that puts exotic supercar performance within reach. Zack runs through the Hyundai Kona Limited in what he calls Difficult Resale Yellow, and Jonny covers the Subaru Outback's practical value while the panel roasts its aggressive plastic cladding.

Spy shots of the 2027 Mercedes-AMG GT Black Series surface, and Jonny makes a strong case it is built specifically to take the Nurburgring Nordschleife lap record back. Saudi brand Ceer Motors gets introduced with its wedge-shaped EVs.

The closing stretch covers the viral story of Snook's Dream Cars museum in Bowling Green, Ohio shutting down over a claimed carburetor mechanic shortage (the panel does not buy it), a 1971 station wagon pick-'em with the Oldsmobile Vista Cruiser, 1971 Ford Country Squire, Chevrolet Kingswood Estate, and Chrysler Town and Country.

This week on Spike's Car Radio, the crew previews their road trip to the Audrain nNewport Concours in Newport, Rhode Island, breaking down car show survival tactics, posse assembly, and the sacred ritual of Cumberland Farms snack runs.

The hot rumor: Porsche is developing a standalone halo hypercar around a flat-eight engine, possibly hybrid, definitely insane. Jonny and Spike debate the engineering and Zuckerman announces he intends to own a hypercar before he dies. Reasonable goal.

The Porsche San Luis Obispo GT2 RS situation gets a follow-up. After SCR called out their $2M ask, the dealer responded with a $299k price cut. A comparable Speed Yellow GT2 RS sold for $850,000 on Bring a Trailer, which tells you everything you need to know. Speaking of BaT, a Marshall Goldman Corvette auction was shut down by moderators after the seller was caught using alternate accounts to shill bid their own car. The crew breaks down how that works and why it matters for online auction integrity.

Spike tours the early 911 Manfred Hering compound in Wuppertal, Germany: 250,000 square feet, 700-plus cars, 100 to 140 restoration craftsmen, a Porsche 916, 934s, 959s. A future field trip is already being planned.

Spike reviews the Porsche Macan GTS EV in Oak Green Metallic: 294 miles of range, sports-car tuning in an electric SUV body, and a sport exhaust sound mode that is doing a lot of work. Closing out: the Nissan Z Kaze concept T-top reveal. Is it enough to save Nissan? Probably not.

    James Pumphrey’s Near-Fatal Nürburgring Crash Sep 23, 2026

James Pumphrey from Speeed joins Spike and Zuckerman to talk men's style, a near-crash at the Nürburgring in a broken Audi RS4, and a terrifying brake failure at Laguna Seca. James Pumphrey, co-creator of the fast-growing YouTube channel Speeed, drops into the SCR Garage for a full hour of style rules, motorsport near-misses, and more. It starts with fashion: Pumphrey argues men over 30 should have their aesthetic locked in, not chasing baggy streetwear and broccoli-head hair. The benchmark is 1990s Harrison Ford. Levi's 501s. Button-down shirt. Done.

Then it gets dangerous. Pumphrey recounts the Speeed crew buying a notorious B5 Audi RS4 Avant for a road trip to the Ultrace show in Gdansk, getting it hot-lapped at the Nürburgring by Misha Charoudin, and watching the plastic auxiliary water pump crack at 190 km/h, dumping coolant onto the rear tires mid-corner. Spike and Paul then break down footage of Manuel Gil de Rafael's catastrophic brake failure into the Corkscrew at Laguna Seca during the Porsche Sprint Challenge USA. Both incidents serve as a reminder that the track is a machine with thousands of parts, and one failure changes everything.

The back half covers a lot of ground: Speeed's limited-edition merch drops, iPhone fatigue and dumb phones vs smartphones, dopamine shopping apps from South Korea, and an iSeeCars reliability study on which vehicles actually reach 250,000 miles (Toyota and Lexus lead, no surprise). The mortality segment somehow becomes both the funniest and most informative portion of the episode, featuring California cemetery scandals from the 1990s that are genuinely hard to believe.

Listener questions bring up the james pumphrey speeed video on healthy habits, a gorgeous 1981 DeLorean DMC-12 listed on Morris and Co., the three car dream garage debate, and who qualifies as the Harrison Ford of car fashion (Simon Kidston makes a strong case). The episode closes with Spike delivering a direct pep talk to Pumphrey about the value of building something original, referencing a key lesson from Jerry Seinfeld: if it has been done before, you do not want any part of it.

Also: LA coyotes are now entering high-rise buildings. Grocery stores look like the Soviet Union. Business as usual.

Jeff breaks down whether the Porsche 911 GT3 Lightweight Package justifies its price, explaining that shedding rotating mass at the wheel is where the gains actually live. The group also digs into the Ford Bronco Filson edition and how many lifestyle trim packages one truck market can sustain, then pivots to the newly revealed Mercedes-AMG CLE 646 Spezialanfertigung, 637 horsepower, rear-wheel drive, 30 units worldwide, and already on course to be a seven-figure collectible.

Jeff rolls in his 1992 Range Rover. Mechanically sorted with a 3-inch lift and fresh Toyo rubber, but the clear coat looks like an abstract expressionism project gone wrong. The crew also debates the upcoming Porsche Boxster EV as a potential LA daily driver, previews the Willow Springs revival and what they fixed from last year's traffic disaster, and covers Leno's Law clearing the California legislature.

Finally: a Pakistani homemade driverless car crashes into a police cruiser on live television, and Spike pitches the idea of programming a humanoid dancing robot, to attend dinner parties and parent-teacher conferences in his place.

Why Is This Porsche Dealership Charging $2.3 MILLION for a GT2 RS?! Sep 09, 2026
    Show notes

The guys tear into Porsche San Luis Obispo's insane used car prices (a 2019 GT2 RS listed at $2.3 million), Jonny delivers a genuinely shocking Subaru Trailseeker EV review, and the crew covers Ford's Le Mans Hypercar, JCB's 406 mph hydrogen land speed record, viral airplane duct-tape chaos, and the ethics of automotive journalism.

Spike, Zuckerman, and Jonny open the episode soaking wet after LA's so-called "catastrophic weather event" nukes their outdoor plans. From there, the conversation gets weird fast. Porsche San Luis Obispo is asking $2.3 million for a 2019 GT2 RS because of a Python Green Chromaflair paint option. Is it a flex? Instagram bait? Genuine optimism?

Jonny drops the car-of-the-week segment with a full review of the Subaru Trailseeker EV, including specs that nobody expected: 375 hp dual-motor, 4.3-second 0-60, 281 miles of range, 8.5 inches of ground clearance, and a price that undercuts the Rivian R2. It's the Subaru Trailseeker EV review nobody saw coming.

On the motorsport front: Jonny praises the Ford Mustang GTD, calling it one of the most remarkable engineering achievements in recent memory. Ford is also track-testing a new car for the Ford Le Mans hypercar 2027 program under Jim Farley's watch. The land speed record gets a full breakdown too.

Listener questions cover Zuckerman's one-drive-and-done Porsche, a deep dive into the Porsche 964 cup car and what makes it nearly unlivable on the road, and the Longines Hydroconquest dive watch (yes, they argue about how to say it). The Zuckerman car collection takes another hit when he admits he sold an Audi R8 V10 Spyder after a single drive. The episode wraps with the multi-year nightmare of trying to register a California vanity plate for a Zagato.
