What is Happening with The Bachelorette? w/ Reality Steve
Dive into the world of reality TV analysis with Mike Bloom and guest Reality Steve Carbone as they discuss the latest news about The Bachelorette’s recently canceled season. This episode explains the events leading to the cancellation, examining how Taylor Frankie Paul’s domestic violence history and a newly released video influenced ABC’s decision just days before the planned premiere.
Mike and Reality Steve review Taylor Frankie Paul’s path from social media celebrity to Bachelorette lead, noting how her past, documented in police reports and covered by entertainment news, did not initially deter ABC or Hulu. They outline the sequence of events: Taylor’s media appearances, the investigation into new allegations, and the suspension of The Secret Lives of Mormon Wives. The discussion highlights how new video evidence influenced network executives and public opinion.
Key highlights from the discussion include:
- ABC and Hulu’s decision process after seeing the video surface online despite prior knowledge from police records.
- Analysis of Taylor’s complicated relationship history and the network's choice of "stunt casting" to revive a franchise in decline.
- Perspectives on accountability, Taylor’s released statements, and the contrasting reactions from fans and commentators.
- The ripple effects on production, sponsorships, and the show's future, including speculation about possible legal actions and the fate of other contestants.
- Thoughts on whether The Secret Lives of Mormon Wives will resume filming, how reality TV networks vet future leads, and the shift in focus to Taylor’s family and well-being.
The episode raises pointed questions: Will this cancellation change how reality TV casts its stars? What happens to the franchise next, or to Taylor and Dakota’s ongoing drama? Listen to unravel how real-life controversy shapes the fate of a reality TV giant, and catch insights from Reality Steve’s daily coverage.
