How Can the Rangers Replace Igor Shesterkin? Oct 13, 2026
    Show notes

The New York Rangers have suffered a massive blow, losing Igor Shesterkin for the entire season following a knee injury. Now, the big question is who takes over in net and whether the Rangers need to make a move to keep their season on track.

On this edition of Daily Faceoff Live, the guys discuss Dylan Garand going from the waiver wire to becoming New York's No. 1 goalie, whether the Rangers could pursue Connor Hellebuyck, and which goaltenders might be available on the trade market. Could a team with three goalies be willing to move one?

The show also kicks off with Man of the Weekend, as the Seattle Kraken continue to surprise with Ben Meyers and an offence that has made them the highest-scoring team in the Western Conference. Have the Kraken changed expectations after their early-season performance?

Finally, the guys play Fill in the Blank, debating the Rangers' goalie options and identifying the NHL team that should be most disappointed with its start to the season.

The Bruins Are Turning Heads & A Weak NHL Draft Class? Oct 09, 2026
    Show notes

The Boston Bruins are off to a strong start, and after a dominant win over the Utah Mammoth, the question is whether this team can make some noise in a competitive Atlantic Division. The guys break down Boston's early-season performance and discuss whether the Bruins are legitimate contenders in the division

David Pastrnak put up four points in the win, but could he also emerge as a sneaky Hart Trophy candidate this season? Steven Ellis from Daily Faceoff joins the show to discuss his latest NHL Draft rankings.

Is this really a weak draft class, how confident should we be in Dupont going first overall, and which prospects outside the top 10 could work their way into the top five?

Jeff Marek joins us from The Sheet, covering some of the most awkward player-team situations in NHL history, Dylan Larkin's future in Detroit, the possibility of the Los Angeles Kings pursuing Connor Hellebuyck, and whether the hockey world will come together to give Alex Ovechkin a gift as he approaches another major milestone.

How Many NHL Teams are TRUE Stanley Cup Contenders? Oct 08, 2026
    Show notes

The Oilers are rolling, the Capitals are off to a strong start, and the Stanley Cup contender debate is already heating up.

The guys start with the early returns from Washington, where Alex Tuch has scored three goals in his first three games with the Capitals and Logan Thompson has been stellar in net. Could Washington have the makings of a legitimate Stanley Cup contender?

    Paul Pidutti Article

Then it's time for the Oilers Rush. Edmonton leads the NHL with 22 goals through four games and hasn't lost in regulation, while the line of Connor McDavid, Leon Draisaitl and Vasily Podkolzin has been dominating at 5-on-5.

The guys also discuss Devon Levi and whether he's starting to find his game. From there, the conversation turns to the true Stanley Cup contenders. With a recent Daily Faceoff piece suggesting only six teams have a legitimate shot at winning the Cup, the guys debate which teams they believe in, who may have been left off the list, and whether anyone outside those six can actually win it all.

Larkin Returns, McKenna's First Goal + Utah Keeps Rolling Oct 07, 2026
    Show notes

Dylan Larkin is back, the Utah Mammoth are off to a flying start, and there are still plenty of questions surrounding the Maple Leafs

On this edition of Daily Faceoff Live, the guys react to Larkin's return to Detroit's lineup and his goal in his first game back. In Toronto, the guys separate the real concerns from the fake outrage surrounding the Maple Leafs.

Gavin McKenna's first career goal isn't something to worry about, but questions about the team's offence and the play of Dakota Raddysh remain on the radar. The guys also discuss why they're not concerned about Kirill Marchenko.

Meanwhile, Nick Schmaltz scored five goals to lead the Utah Mammoth to a 3-1 win, raising the question of just how high this team can climb this season. David Pagnotta of The Fourth Period joins the show to discuss McKenna's first NHL goal, Larkin's return, Connor Zary clearing waivers and what he's hearing about the Edmonton Oilers potentially looking for a trade.

Barkov’s Injury Could Change the Atlantic w/ Cameron Gaunce Oct 05, 2026
    Show notes

Aleksander Barkov's injury has changed the conversation around the Florida Panthers, but how much should it change their playoff outlook?

On this edition of Daily Faceoff Live, the guys debate whether the Panthers can still be considered a playoff lock if Barkov is out for an extended period of time. That leads to a bigger question around the NHL: is any team actually a lock to make the playoffs this season?

The conversation also touches on the Senators and Maple Leafs following their matchup, while the Sabres' 1-1 start gives us another team to keep an eye on in the Atlantic Division.

The guys also play Fill In The Blank, debating whether five Atlantic teams can make the playoffs and whether Devon Levi could end up playing the most games among Edmonton's goalies this season.

Plus, we'll name the Man of the Weekend after the guys take a look at the biggest individual performances from the opening weekend of the NHL season.

Who's Under the Most Pressure? + Vegas Locks In Karlsson Oct 01, 2026
    Show notes

The NHL season is underway, and the pressure is already building around some of the league's top contenders.

The guys start by looking at the Penguins and Flyers after Pittsburgh throttled Philadelphia, before turning their attention to the Golden Knights and Alex Pietrangelo's new two-year extension. Vegas has done a lot of work to keep its core together, and with so many players locked up for multiple seasons, the Golden Knights appear to have extended their window to compete for another few years.

That leads into a discussion about which teams are facing the most pressure to get off to a strong start. Are the Edmonton Oilers under more pressure than anyone else in the NHL, or should teams like Colorado and Vegas be feeling the same urgency as Stanley Cup contenders? The guys also debate whether the Blackhawks can reach 90 points this season as Chicago takes on Utah.

Jeff Marek joins the show for another edition of The Sheet, discussing Montreal's offseason after missing out on Marchenko, Shane Wright, Detroit's situation with Edvinsson and which teams around the NHL are quietly facing more pressure than people realize. Plus, more from around the NHL on Daily Faceoff Live.
