The Unbusy Mom: Because you’re ambitious, you want to grow your business, and you still want a life.

You’re ambitious. You want the money, the challenge, the launches, the strategy, the satisfaction of figuring out a hard problem and thinking, yep, I nailed that.

So how did we end up here?

Working all day and still not getting to the thing you actually wanted to do. Feeling pulled in a million directions. Putting your own projects off again. Being the CEO of your business and somehow also the COO of everybody else’s life.

‘Cause you can make the launch work. The kids’ schedules work. The team work. The Sunday night work. The vacation-with-the-laptop work.

You can make almost anything work.

Until you look up and think… wait. Why am I doing all of this?

I’m Alyssa, and I’ve spent a lot of time figuring out how to build a business I love without making my entire life revolve around keeping it running.

On The Unbusy Mom, we’re going to question some of the things you’ve probably accepted as just how business works.

We’ll talk about motherhood, ambition, Human Design, time management, delegation, productivity…. And the invisible responsibilities that make your business feel heavier than it needs to be.

I.e., what actually has to change when you want a business AND a life. Because I don’t think you’re here to prove how much you can carry.

Because I don’t think you’re here to prove how much you can carry.

You wanted it all – business AND kids.

So you’re going to have to make some changes to the structure of the one you’ve already got.

Real life vs. human design: Maybe you're not supposed to stop fixing things. Sep 27, 2026
    Show notes

    This woman sees problems EVERYWHERE.

Gaps. Things that could work better. Processes that could be cleaner. Ways to improve the whole darn thing.

And I don't think the answer is to get her to STOP doing that. 😂

I think we need to see what happens when she stops treating that part of herself like a problem.

Because there are people who naturally see what could be better…. And how else are the systems gonna get fixed??

Today's shout out: Megan Tobler's Steal These 3 Business Ideas! Catch her at https://selfstarther.mykajabi.com/freebie-3-types-of-businesses

If you're the person who immediately sees what's broken, what's inefficient, what could be improved, or what everyone else seems to have missed, you may have been told you're too critical or that you need to stop looking for problems. Especially if you're running a business, that instinct can be both incredibly useful and completely exhausting.

In this Human Design coaching redo, Alyssa looks at problem-solving, business systems, process improvement, and the Human Design lens behind naturally spotting what's not working. We get into what happens when you stop treating your ability to see problems as something that needs fixing and start asking what that ability is actually good for.

Nope - you don't actually have to choose between the business you want and the life you want.

That's what the Business Cleanout is for.

You send me the messy version of your business, your responsibilities, your projects, your team, your life.

I'll take your whole pile and turn it around within 30 days.

Because you don't need to spend another month trying to make everything fit.

You need to see what can change so you can crush the goals you've been dreaming about and still be there for the kids.

Inside the chart: Her brain was doing exactly what it was supposed to. Sep 26, 2026
    Show notes

She was trying to figure out why she kept wanting to do so many different things.

And underneath that was this constant little voice going: “But is this actually safe? Do we have enough time? Do we have enough support? What if...?”

So we had a very interesting conversation about the difference between a brain that's genuinely scattered… and a brain that's trying to make sure you've thought through all the angles before you move. 😂

Plus the whole “why are you trying to focus on one thing when you clearly want several??” conversation.

Come listen to this one →

If your brain constantly jumps between ideas, possibilities, projects, questions, and “wait, what about THIS?” you may have decided you have a focus problem. You might be trying to organize your thoughts, narrow your priorities, or force yourself to concentrate on one thing at a time.

In this Human Design coaching redo, Alyssa looks at focus, overthinking, decision-making, and the experience of having a brain that wants to consider a lot of different possibilities. We get into the difference between being genuinely scattered and having a mind that's doing something very specific before you're ready to move.

Nope - you don't actually have to choose between the business you want and the life you want.

Real life vs. human design: Her chart said one thing - her life said another. Sep 25, 2026
    Show notes

    Okay, this one was FUN.

Her chart said one thing - her actual behavior was telling me something else.

    So I started asking questions.

Because if you've been told “this is your Human Design” and you're sitting there thinking… “Um. That doesn't sound anything like me….”

I want you to hear this reading.

We got into the possibility that she's been operating from years of conditioning around how much she's “supposed” to produce.

If you've learned your Human Design type and thought, “Um... that doesn't sound anything like me,” you're definitely not the only one. Sometimes the way someone has learned to work, produce, achieve, and show up in business can look very different from what their Human Design suggests comes naturally.

In this Human Design coaching redo, Alyssa looks at Human Design and conditioning, work style, productivity, and the gap between your chart and the way you've learned to operate. We get into what happens when the life you're actually living doesn't seem to match what you've been told your Human Design should look like.

She LOVES one side of her business - the coaching.

That's where her energy lights up.

Then there's the agency side…. And suddenly we're having a very different conversation.

So…. What if the answer isn't “you need more discipline”?

What if one part of the business needs to get smaller, get handed off, or stop taking up so much of your brain?

That's where this reading got really interesting.

If you feel burned out by your business even though there are parts of it you absolutely love, you may be wondering whether you've lost your passion or simply need to get better at managing the whole thing. But sometimes the problem isn't your business. It's one particular part of it that's taking way more energy than it gives back.

In this Human Design coaching redo, Alyssa looks at business burnout, energy, delegation, and what happens when one part of a business no longer fits the person running it. We get into the possibility that you don't need to blow up the whole business or become more disciplined. You may need to look much more closely at which parts actually belong.

She told me she tends to have 4-8 projects going at once - but that meant a focus problem.

    I was like… “Let's slow down here.” 😂

We talked about why she keeps wanting different things on the go, what happens when she tries to force herself to narrow everything down, and how she could actually build a business that works with that.

Especially when every productivity expert seems to be telling you to narrow your focus, pick one priority, and ignore everything else.

In this Human Design coaching redo, Alyssa looks at focus, multiple projects, productivity, and the experience of being naturally pulled toward several things at once. Inside the chart: What if you aren't supposed to work every day? Sep 22, 2026
    Show notes

What if you aren't supposed to work every day?? Seriously.

What if there are days when you're supposed to be completely lit up and getting EVERYTHING done…. And days when you basically want to do nothing??

We got into this in one of my latest chart readings. (Once we looked at the rest of her life, it made a WHOLE lot more sense.)

This is one of those readings where I want you to hear the whole conversation to get the background behind “no more try harder.”

If you've been taught that successful entrepreneurs need to be consistent, productive, and working every day, you may feel guilty when your energy doesn't cooperate. Maybe some days you're completely lit up and get a ridiculous amount done, while other days you have absolutely no interest in being “on.”

In this Human Design coaching redo, Alyssa looks at work schedules, productivity, energy management, rest, and the idea that working every day might not be the right model for everyone. We get curious about what happens when you stop assuming that consistency has to mean showing up in exactly the same way every day.

It’s Not the Business - It’s the Rest of It That’s Killing You Sep 21, 2026
    Show notes

It’s probably not the work itself that’s draining you.

It’s the constant pressure around it. The endless to-do list. The “if I hurry, I can fit something else in.” The skipped workout, no lunch, rushing to the next kid event.

You can love your business and still be running yourself completely dry.

In this episode, I’m talking about right-sizing your workload so you can actually keep going. Because your business is a marathon, and you’ve been treating it like a sprint.

If you’re realizing your workload needs to come down before you completely lose the “oh my gosh, isn’t it so fun to work on my business?” feeling, the Business Cleanout is where I’d start.

You hand me the whole pile, and we figure out what actually needs to stay, what needs to go, and what needs to stop being yours.

If you're an entrepreneur who feels completely drained by your business even though you actually like the work, you might assume you have a time-management, productivity, or workload problem. But sometimes the issue isn't the work itself. It's the constant pressure, the endless responsibilities, and the feeling that there's always something else you could squeeze into the day.

In this episode, Alyssa looks at what happens when your business workload has simply become too much to sustain alongside motherhood, family responsibilities, and an actual life. We get into business overwhelm, workload, productivity, and what it can look like to right-size your business before you lose the part of it you actually enjoy.

Real life vs. human design: Someone gave her terrible advice. Sep 20, 2026
    Show notes

Someone told her to focus on ONE thing (which was probably terrible advice). 😂
She has a bunch of projects going. A bunch of interests. A bunch of ideas….

And she's been trying to become a person who focuses on ONE thing. (Because apparently that's what we're supposed to do.) 😂

Except… what if that's actually the thing that's making her business harder??

This reading got into what happens when you stop treating your natural multi-focus as a character flaw and start figuring out how to build AROUND it instead.

If you've ever looked at your open tabs and thought, “I have a problem”.... you probably want this one. 😂

If you have multiple projects, ideas, interests, or offers pulling at you and you've been wondering how to focus your business, you may have heard the advice: Pick one thing. For some people, that creates clarity. For others, trying to narrow everything down can make the whole business feel harder.

In this Human Design coaching redo, Alyssa looks at focus, multi-passionate entrepreneurs, multiple projects, and the pressure to choose just one thing. We get into what happens when you stop treating a naturally multi-focused brain as a problem and start getting curious about how your work could actually accommodate the way you think.

What if your overthinking was actually trying to protect you?
She has a brain that wants to ask: “But do we have enough money? Do we have enough time? Do we have the right people? What happens if this goes sideways?”

And you could look at that and decide she's being fearful.

I didn't - I started looking at what that’s actually trying to DO for her.

If you're constantly thinking through every possible problem before you make a decision, you may have been told you're overthinking, worrying too much, or letting fear run the show. But what if there's actually something useful underneath all those questions about money, time, people, risk, and what could go wrong?

In this Human Design coaching redo, Alyssa looks at overthinking, decision-making, business anxiety, and the mental pressure that can come with running a business. Instead of assuming the overthinking itself is the problem, we get curious about what that part of the brain is actually trying to do and how it might be useful when you understand it differently.
