Bonus Episode - Holiday Special 2: Lost in New York Dec 30, 2024

Just like the original installment before it, this sequel holiday special follows the exact same formula as its predecessor. First, Caitlin and Don gift each other a randomly-selected advertiser. Then, after a 30-minute hiatus (that you don’t have to wait through thanks to the magic of audio editing), we present each other with freshly-written original jingles that would make even a grinch’s heart grow three sizes (minimum). After that, Don surprises Caitlin with a political jingle he found in the wild that ultimately failed to help its candidate win an election, but is too country-fried good not to discuss. WTTJ is back with yet another long-shelved episode recorded earlier this year as we profile the jingle of Zoom Tan, the regional tanning salon chain with a heavy presence in both New York and Florida. In this one, Don pledges his loyalty to his childhood dentist while Caitlin finally comes clean about her desire to be tan and tasty despite her better judgement. We also cover the local (to us) Zoom Tan takeover and multiple news reports of unauthorized cell phone use at the salon while Don tries his best to avoid a lawsuit. Will he succeed? S3:E03 - Utica Club (Utica, NY) Oct 08, 2024

After a months-long hiatus that had absolutely nothing to do with Don’s distaste for jingle being featured, Welcome to the Jingle returns with the toe-tapping ad for legendary local(ish) beverage company Utica Club of Utica, New York! Ok, this episode was recorded nearly a half-year ago before being lost and then re-discovered on a hard drive, so there are plenty of dated references - but don’t let that stop you!. You’ll hear all about Caitlin’s Mexican guacamole disaster, Don’s upcoming original pop tune release (which has since happened: Summer Song - check that out on Spotify!), and eventually we review U.C.’s psychedelic full-length jingle from 1968 that Caitlin just loves. Added bonuses include selections from The Nutty Squirrels and our hosts coining the term “consensual mansplaining.” Enjoy!

(Heck, it MUST have been ghosts! Why else would we go on and on about the last episode being our season finale only to drop one more weeks later? Anyway…) Here it is, folks: Welcome to the Jingle’s 2023 Holiday Special! In this handmade gift that only a mother could pretend to love, Caitlin and Don each draw a random advertiser from Ebenezer Scrooge’s night cap and write an original jingle for it. S2:E13 - Times Union (Albany, NY) Dec 08, 2023

The Holy Grail of jingles has been found (or rather, it found us) as we finally review the Albany Times Union’s iconic television ads for our epic season finale! Yes, we know we’ve been gone for too long, and with season two coming to an end we’re about to be gone even (too) longer, so here you go: a 2.5+ hour episode with absolutely no bathroom breaks (that you know of). We held it for that long and we’re betting you can, too, so hit the head and settle in for a marathon-length edition of your favorite pod featuring three version of the TU’s “We’re Your Source” jingle!

S2:E12 - Indian Ladder Farms Live Show (Altamont, NY) Sep 11, 2023

First, a three-week COVID delay. Then, threats of rain, a computer that wouldn't boot up and finally a microphone with a severe case of stage fright. The podcast gods were clearly against us on this one, but in the end, we beat the odds and managed to record our long-awaited live episode at Indian Ladder Farms in Altamont, New York! To kick things off, we sit down with ILF owners Laurie Ten Eyck and Dietrich "Dieter" Gehring to chat about the farm's history, products and upcoming events. After that, we listen to four of their jingles alongside jingle writer/singer/producer/one-man-show Ritz Carlton. As if all that weren't enough to make you want to listen in, we also preview our upcoming season finale featuring WTTJ's "white whale" that we totally found ourselves and definitely wasn't just sent to us by somebody else(according to Caitlin). Thanks again to the folks at ILF for welcoming us to their awesome farm, and to all our friends and family who joined us there!

These are the times (the very best times!) because Welcome to the Jingle is back to profile a set of catchy jingles from Pudgie’s Pizza and Subs in Central New York! While some restaurant chains force you to choose between pizza OR subs, this one promises both over and over again with four separate jingles spanning several decades. One even features multiple modulations! (What’s a modulation? Don’t worry, Don will mansplain it to you in painful detail.) Bon appétit!

We needed an escape so we rate(d) one (actually two) jingles for The Great Escape Fun Park in Lake George, NY! Don rides the Steamin’ Demon down memory lane while Caitlin fears what nightmares await in Crackaxle Canyon. Later, there’s a long tangent about bath salts before we finally preview our next episode on a jingle for a pizza chain which promises “Good Times” for all. First we play and discuss this heartwarming ‘80s gem, then we throw in some bonus supermarket jingles for Hy-Vee (American Midwest), Grand Union (Upstate New York) and Robinson’s Supermarket (the Philippines). Things take a dark turn when Caitlin and Don smell something cookin’ next door before we finish up by teasing our next episode featuring an adorable ear worm for an overweight man’s beverage center. In our triumphant return, Caitlin and Don brag about the Albany Times Union’s recent feature on our podcast (front page!), then we dive deep into our favorite tune about Albany, New York: “Let’s Have A Party, Albany!” by The Sharks. You’ll hear the song (which we view as a jingle for the city), followed by a snippet of Don’s interview with actual Shark Bob Button. After that, we take turns forcing additional tourism jingles down your earholes (Wisconsin State Fair, Michigan and one more that Drew Carey probably wishes doesn’t exist). Finally, we preview our next episode set to feature the jingle for a principal center of commerce offering a wide variety of edible delicacies. They’ve got bumper cars and gang fights, too - everything “kids love to do!” Caitlin finally gets to discuss an actual logo and Don comes to the realization that “every business has stabbings,” so this one has a little something for everyone. After that, we preview our next episode in which we’ll review a corny-yet-lovable jingle for an Ontario, CA-based amusement park which may just leave you petrified. POP! POP!

Caitlin and Don are BACK with our season 1 finale as we review the jingle for Professional Fire Restoration in Albany, New York! Yes, we realize we left you hanging after episode 9 oh so many months ago, but we’re making it up to you with one last episode this season featuring an interview with John Schaefer of Schafer Media & Marketing, who helped develop the aforementioned jingle. Caitlin kicks things off by detailing her recent visit to the abandoned Catskill Game Farm, then Don highlights Water Safari’s history (featuring death, sex and poop) before we finally discuss the jingle itself. Caitlin and Don “take a chance” and “make it happen” as we review the iconic jingle for Foxwood Resort Casino in Mashantucket, CT. Caitlin fights through her hatred of card games and slot machines to give us a brief history of the Native American-owned property before we go all-in analyzing its 1999 jazz-inspired jingle. In our premiere episode, Don and Caitlin review the jingle for Columbus, Ohio-based restaurant Rotolo’s Pizza. Caitlin recently discovered the tune when it was featured on the Endless Threads podcast and we found it so catchy/ridiculous that we were inspired to launch our own podcast about TV and radio jingles. We talk about what makes it great vs. what we’d change, and we rate it on catchiness, effectiveness and overall amazingness. We also preview our next episode featuring the jingle of a certain seafood restaurant Don remembers fondly from his childhood family vacations.
